Ford Community and Performing Arts Center Looking for a Lifeguard


RATE OF PAY:  $10.00-$12.00 per hour             

This position is available to all Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors who have worked satisfactorily for at least six months at an aquatics facility.


Year round; 7-day operation

Various shifts; Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.


  • Supervises all aspects of the facility in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor, including but not limited to:
    • Employees
    • Facility grounds
    • Patrons
    • Equipment and chemicals as assigned
    • Must be on deck to supervise ‘Learn to Swim’ program
  • Performs lifeguarding/instruction duties as assigned
  • Attends all training sessions/in-service training
  • Assists with maintenance and cleanliness of pool as assigned
  • Works in cooperation with other Head Lifeguards and pool management
  • Displays mature approach to patrons and co-workers
  • Works flexible hours and demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Current Lifeguard Training, Lifeguard Instructor (highly desired), and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications.
  • Applications will be reviewed.
  • Qualified applicants will be scheduled for an interview and the following tests:
    • Physical skills:
      • Swim 500 yards in under 10 minutes.
      • Retrieve a brick from the bottom of a 10-13 foot pool, surface and swim with brick in one hand to nearest pool edge.
      • Swim with a suspected spinal victim, with head immobilized, for 15 yards.
    • Written exam.
    • Oral interview.
