Megan Szypula is a Downriver native now living in Detroit as she finishes her undergraduate degree in Music Education at Wayne State University. Megan has been playing Horn and Trumpet for 12 years now having fallen in love with the Horn in 5th grade band.
Megan grew up playing in Dearborn’s Youth Symphony and later worked as DYS Staff. She has additional experience with the Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony with bright young wind players.
In her time at Wayne State University she has performed under Maestro Kypros Mar
kou in the WSU Orchestra and with the Dearborn Symphony, toured Italy with the WSU Camerata, under Douglass Bianchi in the Wayne State Wind Symphony and Concert Band, and in the WSU Big Band III Under Professor Edward Gooch. She continues to pursue her passion for music as an active musician in the Greater Detroit area on trumpet and Horn, With the International Symphony Orchestra out of Port Huron and also with Midtown sounds, a freelance jazz project in Midtown Detroit.
When she is not practicing, performing, or teaching, you can find Megan at a Wings game, at the Little Pierogi and Crepe Kitchen in Wyandotte, or walking her dog Riley.
