Just graduated or worked for decades? Michigan Teacher Corps (MTC) prepares you for the students who need you most.

Michigan Teacher Corps

Michigan Teacher Corps (MTC) is an ambitious, teacher-centered effort to invigorate struggling Michigan schools with great teaching. MTC brings aspiring and certified teachers together and equips them with the training, coaching and hiring support they need to provide a transformative education for Michigan students.

We serve Michigan’s lowest-performing schools, with a focus on Priority schools—those in the bottom 5 percent of state rankings, where too many children start school behind and struggle to catch up.

MTC equips aspiring teachers—we call them Fellows—with the skills needed to become a great teacher, with training from one of the nation’s leading teacher preparation programs.

What We Offer:

Become a Great New Teacher: Train like a pro athlete, with hands-on practice, classroom-centered coursework and intensive coaching from expert educators.

Earn Certification that Counts: You must demonstrate the ability to master key skills and help students learn to earn certification. Upon graduating, you’ll be recognized as having a proven record of classroom success.

Receive Full Salary and Benefits: You’ll begin earning a full teacher’s salary plus comprehensive benefits while pursuing certification when you start working full-time at a Priority school this fall

Teach Where You’re Needed Most: Work alongside newly certified and experienced teachers to make a real difference in one of Michigan’s Priority schools.
