Our Second Annual Gala is fast approaching. Discounted student tickets are available for only $36! We strongly encourage you to attend. The Gala provides social work students, WSU alumni, faculty, staff, and community members an opportunity to connect, network, and unwind. Step Up, Stop the Violence! Join a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes LA VIDA Partnership, a community program of CHASS Center, is partnering with the Woman’s Association of Verizon Employees (WAVE) to raise awareness about violence against women and girls. Saturday, October 1, 2016 9:00 am – 1:00 pm CHASS Southwest Center 5635 West Fort Street Detroit, MI 48209 The Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event challenges male participants to walk one (1) mile in high heeled red shoes to protest sexualized violence, educate their communities and raise funds. All donations benefit LA VIDA Partnership. Minimum pledge of $100 required for participation. Prior registration is appreciated. (INCLUDES shoes whole sizes 8 to 15 medium width, if registered by September 16). Vendor tables and volunteer opportunities available. To register visit

Please join with us to help prevent these deaths. September is Infant Safe Sleep Awareness Month in Michigan – the perfect time to spread the word about the number of these deaths and how they can be prevented.
