Visit the MOCAD’s (Museum of Contemporary Arts Detroit) newest exhibit The Past is the Present which celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Diego Rivera murals (from the DIA, have you seen those btw?? GO SEE THEM!). This exhibits shows 15 new, contemporary murals exploring history, political conflict, and social change as Diego did in his murals. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore Detroit’s rich history.
La Chispa y Companía

Valeria Montes and her Company have become quite the popular Flamenco performance. She has been called “beauty in motion” by MetroTimes and “mesmerizing” by the Detroit Free Press. Oh and she’s at our very own Detroit Institute of Arts. What will you call her?

Detroit Eastern Market Harvest Fest
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Apple pie eating/ baking contest, scavenger hunt and pumpkin carving at the Eastern Market? What more could you ask for to kick off the fall season?
Southwest Selections Opening Reception
This exhibition celebrates the Southwest Detroit neighborhood. From street graffiti to environmental sculpture, this will surely be a good way to learn about the upcoming talent in our communities. Did I mention there will be GRAFFITI ART?? Sweet.

The Green Ride
Join the Office of Campus Sustainability and Sierra Club Great Lakes on The Green Ride bike tour. The tour will stop by several of Detroit’s environmental jewels, including visits to a green roof, solar array, wind turbine, urban farm, an urban wetland, a bio-swale and rain catchment system. In addition, the tour will feature a discussion of air and water quality issues during a stop at the Detroit Incinerator. Bring your own bike. We’ll supply the fun! Registration is now open. Between the Buried and Me Concert – Walkable!

At the beautiful Majestic Theatre, listen to the progressive rock band called Between the Buried and Me. Concerts at the Majestic/ Magic Stick are always a riot.
