Congratulations to one of our SAAB brothers, Jayvon Garth, for being named a ‘New Face of Civil Engineering’ on the American Society of Civil Engineers’ website! He was also interviewed by the South End Newspaper in reference to the ASCE feature. Oh, he wasn’t just interviewed; he was on the cover of the February issue!
Last Friday, right after our general body meeting, we helped to host Delta Sigma Theta’s “Battle of the Sexes” event. The event was a part of their Founder’s Week, which ran from January 13th-17th.
Ultimately, the guys won the competition by a final score of 5-4. One of our SAAB Brothers got the last point!
Based on the success and fun factor of it all, we wish to collaborate with the Deltas again!
Members of SAAB recently showed their support for the Wayne Student African Society (WASS) at their first annual Charity Night, which took place on November 22nd.
It was a fun night that had some good entertainment (singing, poetry, live music) and wonderful food.
The event wasn’t about WASS or SAAB; it was about helping two great causes!
Check out some pictures of the event below:
Student African American Brotherhood (SAAB) is having a bake sale today, November 13th, 2013.
We invite all to stop by and grab some treats between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m in the bake sale area of State Hall!
We hope to see you there!

This past summer was a productive one for our chapter. Our members showed their dedication and contributed their time to help out in various ways.
Here are just a few examples:
On May 8th, members of our Executive board spoke at Westside Christian Academy (located in Redford) during an after school program called Boys 2 Books. We explained to them the importance of college, and most significantly, the importance of graduating.
We drove over 1 hour to volunteer at the Michigan International Speedway in August. While there, we cooked, sold food and beverages (and made quite a bit of money), cleaned up, and had a great time!
And, of course, we had a table at Festi-Fall.
We hope to continue our activeness both on and around campus during this school year.
Expect more updates about other happenings!
