Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH
Hey fellows, how’s everyone gearing up plans for the summer, I hope ya’ll are aware of the trip to Cedar Point organized by the Cultural Diversity Council (CDC) of Wayne State University. I have posted the original info below anyways. I signed up yesterday and looks like the slots have been filling up fast, I was the last but one guy to sign up and I guess the first bus is now filled up, but no worries, the CDC told me that a second bus would be added, so it’s not too late to sign up and they have the 5$ discount if you register for the trip before May15th. I really think the CDC have done a great job in getting this awesome offer and I’m sure it’s gonna be a fun drive in the bus to and back, rest alone the theme park itself. So hurry up people and sign up asap before the slots fill up.

So its year 2007, I was done with my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Undergrad college life was fun, exciting and carefree, unlike others I had never really prepared for my next step. Many of my classmates had got into jobs in the big IT firms of India which I feel makes you work like a donkey and pay you peanuts; a bunch got placed in a few manufacturing companies in the northern states. As for me I just dint have a clue what to do.
My long term goals were more philanthropic than monetary but I guess for obvious reasons I had to pursue the latter first. I always dreamed of having my own engineering firm one day. So I was wondering whether I should pursue my MBA next. I had done some research work on some of the best B-Schools to study in. India had some of the best world class education facilities in management like the IIMs & NITIEs among a few others, but I also found that it was easier to get into B-Schools in UK or USA than in India. The CAT exams that IIMs require seem to be way tougher than any GMAT tests. My dad and a few other important people in my life advised me to work for some time before planning for any higher studies. I decided yeah maybe they are probably right so I got an internship at a Horn Manufacturing Industry called ROOTS which supplies horns to some major automotive companies in the world including Harley Davidson, International Trucks among others in the USA. I was assigned with carrying out project works in the Department for Continuous Improvements. I really liked my job, it was very interesting I was learning new techniques in ways to make things work better in the industry. That’s when my interest in Industrial Engineering grew. It made sense to pursue a Masters in Industrial Engineering and maybe do an MBA later on. It would give me the best mix to fulfill my long term career interests and moreover where best to pursue them than in the education capital of the world, the USA. This is where my journey to study in the US began.
Hello everyone :) ,I’m Logesh Ram and this is my first blog. I am a student of Wayne State University pursuing my Masters in Industrial Engineering. I came to the United States of America for the first time in the month of August 2008, very excited, enthusiastic and eager to experience the American way of life for the next few years. But little did I know the university has a helleva lot of Indian people almost everywhere which made me feel my American life so far is still mostly desi style. I don’t have much complaints though as I am enjoying every bit of life here so different away from my home and life back in India.
This is my first job after months of pursuit looking for an On campus work. I am really glad to be given the opportunity as a Wayne State Blogger. Where else can I actually get paid just to write whatever I feel like, well seriously I am very much looking forward using this position as a way to meet new people, make new friends, develop my contacts, do more social networking online, share my opinions, photos and experiences so far at Wayne State, Detroit and the US of A.
Part of my job description is to be a student ambassador of Wayne State University for all the prospective students who will come across my blogs, I hope to give you all my best perspective of the life here as a student, how everything works here, how to get things done, what should you expect and what’s expected of you in this great, celebrated, pleasant, fun filled, crazy campus and beyond.
Thats all I have for now, just one last thing I would very much like to hear from you all too, so please do feel free to post any comments, questions or opinions you may have on any of my blogs or anything relevant, I ll be glad to answer to my best. Alrighty then I hope not to bore you all and drive you away so soon, so have fun and enjoy your life.
