Saul Bass: The Man Behind some of the World’s Best-Known Designs
This post will serve as a double-feature of sorts – I’ll discuss some highlighted logos by Saul Bass, serving as exploration into various designers and typographers, while also providing a possible ‘project’ option for that portion of the PPP blog project.

Saul Bass is the man behind original, iconic brand logos such as Minolta, Kleenex, Dixie, Lawry’s Foods, United Way, Warner Communications, the Girl Scouts, AT&T, and countless others. This is the life of a designer – in the background – everyone knows your designs, but less of them know your name. What’s interesting about this blog article is that it shows the original logos designed by Bass himself alongside their more recent, if applicable, ‘revamps’ (for better or worse) designed by others. Some logos have since been redone; others have remained the same to this day. Each design also details the lifespan of each logo.
According to the article, “The average lifespan of a Saul Bass logo is 34 years.”
Pretty impressive.
