Summary:

Seeking UMSI second year Master’s students who can commit to a part-time (The normal workweek shall be no more than 19 hours per week and not less than 12) internship assignments that extend from roughly September through December, with the possibility of extending to additional internships or future full-time employment. This program will allow students to work on current business projects, be mentored by seasoned professionals in HCI, hone skills by doing case studies developed from past projects, and develop leadership and other soft skills.

Position Description:

The AMSTC HCI Fall Co-op assignments are part-time (~20hrs/week) assignments that extend from roughly September through December. The specific work assignments may vary in terms of the processes impacted and the type technologies utilized. However, most Human-Computer Interaction assignments will be in the following areas: Customer Research Contextual Inquiry Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Visual Design, Design of Complex Websites (HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax). The co-op assignments are intended to expose participants to a GE IT technology, culture and businesses. Co-ops have significant exposure to key IT and business leaders at GE, as well as current full-time employees. Co-ops also have extracurricular opportunities to engage in various activities, both socially, and from a professional development perspective.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems, Digital Design, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, Interactive Design, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, or Technology related major.
  • Current School Level: Masters
