All aboard! M-1 RAIL is currently seeking young, talented Detroiters from high school juniors to recent college grads to join our team this summer!

Get connected to one of the region’s most anticipated transportation projects and be a part of history in the making right where you live by participating in the 2014 M-1 RAIL Summer Internship Program.

Why Should You Apply to Work at M-1 RAIL?

What makes the M-1 RAIL internship stand out from the rest? You will gain priceless hands-on experience working across a number of fields intersecting to develop the project. Interns will also experience the following:

Personal Growth:

M-1 RAIL Internship Lunch & Learn Series: You will participate in M-1 RAIL Interns Lunch & Learn Series. There, you will learn valuable lessons from leading experts in the areas of personal finance, health and workplace relations and leave with tools that will enrich your life today.

Professional Growth:

M-1 RAIL Summer Internship Industry Nights: The development of the M-1 RAIL Woodward Avenue Streetcar Project requires the participation of a multitude of stakeholders across sectors to be successful. These sessions will provide you with a deeper insight of the community and economic development activities that are associated with the streetcar construction. Industry Night, most importantly, will provide an overview of the sectors that work together to plan and execute these activities.

Detroit is home to the next great generation of innovators, leaders and transportation professionals. It’s our goal to cultivate that new crop of talent. We will work with you to develop your individual portfolio that will include an updated resume, professional development plan, work samples and personal statement. This detailed dive into future mapping, will assist in providing clarity to the next steps to be taken after the internship for you to achieve your plans.

Eligibility:

Are you ready to accept the challenge of working with M-1 RAIL? We are seeking applicants who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be between the ages of 16-24
  • Participants in the high school internship track must be entering their Junior or Senior year for the 2014-2015 academic year. Seniors graduating in 2014 are also eligible.
  • Participants in the post-secondary tract must be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or training program.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.7
  • Have primary residency in Detroit
