Midtown Residents and WSU Students remove 350 garbage bags around campus

The cleanup event this last Saturday around Wayne State campus was a total success. There were volunteers from Flint to Ann Arbor. Many of them were local residents, faculty, staff members and students. The rain could not stop the determination of the volunteers as they picked up cans, bottles, plastic bags and other garbage material. The volunteers gathered at the Welcome center and they were provided with the necessary tools to do their job. Items provided were trash bags, gloves, ponchos and shovels. A chartered bus dropped off volunteers at different section of midtown. The volunteers were very pleased and felt very safe as Wayne State police was around to keep an eye on their safety. The event ended with lunch at the welcome center that was provided by Midtown Detroit Inc.
