Aim Higher

About us

For more than a century, the Wayne State University College of Education has been preparing leaders in some of world’s most important professions. While our Teacher Education Division boasts one of the most comprehensive, well-established programs in the country, all four academic divisions offer a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees. Areas of study are as broad as instructional design, leadership and policy, kinesiology, sports administration, educational psychology and counseling.

Through innovative, research-based instruction in a stimulating urban environment, a Wayne State education sets our students apart from their peers, providing access to life-changing opportunities and the skills to succeed in an ever-changing workforce. They regularly collaborate with faculty members at the forefront of their disciplines, working with emerging technologies and participating in cutting-edge research. Through partnerships with schools, hospitals, health service organizations, and other agencies throughout Detroit and the metro area, students in the College of Education put their knowledge to work to better the community. Wayne State’s unique urban setting and focus on community engagement allow budding teachers to stand at the front of Detroit classrooms, aspiring therapists to work with patients in city clinics, and tomorrow’s policymakers to affect change in communities where it’s needed most.
