E-Commerce Developer Intern at Ackroyd’s Scottish Bakery
Redford, MI (some hours can be performed remotely)
We are a nearly 70 year old, 3rd generation owned and operated Scottish bakery, selling traditional savory pastries, sweet teacakes, and meats, as well as imported groceries and gifts from the United Kingdom.
We serve local and wholesale customers from our Reford retail store, as well as national customers via our online store.
We currently have 10 employees, including 2 owners (who are also operators). Our employees are an integral part of who we are, and we are constantly striving to create a company culture of recognition and appreciation.
Assist in developing and launch of a customized e-commerce site through Big Commerce
- Understand the requirements of our online business
- Select the “best fit” template for customization
- Build the company store by loading product category, photos, pricing, inventory and suggested product data
- Ensure management efficiencies are created with properly integrated apps
- Create a logical and seamless customer experience
Communicate efficiently with the Sales and Marketing Director
- Offer technical insight and knowledge
- Be available for discussions and meetings when working remotely
The intern will make a strong and immediate impact on company operations and sales (upon e-store launch).
Skills needed by intern: Web page design, HTML, CSS, Photoshop (or equivalent)
Retail baking industry knowledge is not required.
Desired degree & academic major: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering
The intern will report to the Sales and Marketing Director. They will work together closely to make decisions on template design, product details, and integrating various applications with the Big Commerce platform (ex: FedEx/UPS/USPS, Quickbooks, Shopkeep POS, etc). We can only offer limited training on this specific tech-focused project, which is why we are seeking an intern with this knowledge base.
DATES & COMPENSATION
Start & end date of internship: Week of May 15 – August 11 (flexible on start date, but internship will be a full 12 weeks, and begin at the latest, on May 30)
Hourly rate of compenation: $14/hour
Number of hours per week: 35-40 hours/week
