Wayne State University – School of Social Work – 2012 Cyber Summit
The WSU SSW CyberMentors are proud to announce their 2012 Cyber Summit
The Cyber Summit is an event to raise awareness about cyberbullying and bully prevention. A recent Indiana State University study found that 15% of their college students reported being bullied and nearly 22 percent reported being cyberbullied, 38% of their college students indicated they knew someone who had been cyberbullied and almost nine percent said they had cyberbullied someone else.
Are you interested in learning how to combat online harassment/bullying? Would you like to learn how community leaders are influencing policy changes? Join us for an inspirational presentation on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2:45pm-4:30pm in Room 289 Student Center Building with Special Guests: Detroit City Council Member, Ms. Saunteel Jenkins, WSU BSW and MSW graduate and National Co-Director of Bully Police USA, Mr. Kevin Epling.
Note: Councilwoman Jenkins introduced legislation that now makes it illegal to bully/cyberbully anyone under 18 years of age in the city of Detroit. Mr. Epling led the passage of “Matt’s Law”, which now requires all public Michigan K-12 schools to have an anti-bully policy.
